Sheets are double-feeding, jamming, or clinging from static — how do I fix inkjet feed and media-handling problems?

The feeder picks two or more sheets at once (double/multi-feed), sheets skew, mis-feed, or jam, or they cling to each other and the transport from static — causing stoppages, registration errors, or even head strikes.
