Why does my ink keep drying in the mesh and clogging the screen during long runs?

Detail and fine lines start dropping out or printing broken mid-run, ink deposit becomes patchy, and the mesh open areas visibly fill or crust with dried ink, forcing frequent stops to wipe or wash the screen. Most often caused by fast-evaporating water-based/discharge inks drying in the mesh whenever the squeegee pauses, even for seconds, among other possible causes — a full step-by-step diagnostic and fix follows below.
