The cylinder is getting scored and blades wear out fast — a permanent line in the print

A permanent scratch or groove appears on the chrome and prints as a fixed line that cleaning and new blades will not remove. Blades also wear out or fail unusually fast. Most often caused by hard foreign particles (grit, dried pigment, chrome flakes, metal swarf) trapped between blade and cylinder, among other possible causes — a full step-by-step diagnostic and fix follows below.
