Cells are plugging with dried ink — missing dots and weak, patchy print in the same spots

Fine highlight and mid-tone areas print weak, broken, or missing entirely, often repeating around the cylinder's circumference. Wiping the cylinder face temporarily restores the print, then it fades again. Most often caused by ink drying inside the engraved cells because the solvent blend is too fast for press speed and ambient conditions, among other possible causes — a full step-by-step diagnostic and fix follows below.
