Plates come out scummy or with a weak, blinding image — is it my processor chemistry?
Posted by the SuperPrinters team · 7/26/2026
Non-image (background) areas don't clear and pick up ink/scum on press, or the whole image looks weak, blinded, and washes out light. Results often get progressively worse through the day or after the processor sits idle. Most often caused by exhausted, oxidized, or contaminated developer (concentration/conductivity out of spec, low replenishment), among other possible causes — a full step-by-step diagnostic and fix follows below.
