Why is adhesive oozing out of my die-cut label edges and gumming up the press?
Posted by the SuperPrinters team · 7/26/2026
A sticky halo of adhesive appears around the die-cut edge of the labels, and labels re-bond to the waste matrix or to each other. Tacky residue builds up on the die and rollers and finished rolls feel gummy or block. Most often caused by die cutting too deep and pressing into the release liner, forcing adhesive out at the edge, among other possible causes — a full step-by-step diagnostic and fix follows below.
