AEPC Warns Indian Apparel Exporters: FTA Signatures Don't Guarantee Duty Savings
Shared with SuperPrinters · 8/26/2026 · Source: screenprintindia.com
The Apparel Export Promotion Council held a free trade agreement seminar in Tiruppur, cautioning garment exporters that signing a trade deal is only the first step. To actually benefit from reduced import duties, exporters must correctly identify tariff preferences, prove their goods meet Rules of Origin requirements, and maintain proper documentation. The session covered practical compliance issues relevant to both the UK-India CETA and the recently concluded India-EU FTA, neither of which automatically delivers savings without full procedural compliance.
