India's Top Newspaper Groups Pivot to Digital and Events as Print Revenue Shrinks
Shared with SuperPrinters · 8/24/2026 · Source: indianprinterpublisher.com
India's largest newspaper publishers are rapidly expanding beyond print, with non-print businesses such as digital platforms, out-of-home advertising, and event management expected to contribute around 25% of revenue this fiscal year, up from 13% in 2019. Circulation among major groups has fallen from 15 million in 2019 to around 10 million in 2025, with print-related revenue contracting at 1-2% annually over seven years. Non-print revenues are forecast to grow 10-12% annually through 2027, far outpacing the 2-3% growth expected in traditional print. Publishers are using strong brand equity and regional reach to bundle integrated advertising solutions, while healthy balance sheets provide a financial cushion during the transition.
