India's central government allocated more than Rs 910 crore to print advertising between 2020-21 and 2024-25, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Times of India received the largest share at Rs 78.22 crore, followed by Dainik Jagran and Hindustan Times. Government officials maintain that ad placements follow established circulation-based rules, though opposition parties have questioned whether the spending serves political rather than public interest purposes.
