Printing United Alliance and Ghent Workgroup Join Push for Print Vertical in Google's UCP

Printing United Alliance and the Ghent Workgroup have joined the dev.ucp.print initiative, led by IOP, BVDM and Intergraf, to build a print-specific vertical within Google's Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) for AI-driven commerce. This expands the coalition, which already includes dpsuisse, VIGC and CIP4, into a global effort ensuring print's unique needs—like configurable products and preflight checks—are represented as AI agents begin ordering print. The group plans to submit a formal enhancement proposal to Google in Q4 2026, aiming to pave the way for 'Agentic Print,' where AI autonomously researches, configures and orders print products.
