Toppan has unveiled PQC CARD Dual, the world's first smart card combining both contact and contactless functionality with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), making it resistant to future quantum computing threats. Using proprietary memory-saving technology, Toppan overcame the challenge of fitting PQC's demanding cryptographic processes onto a chip with limited capacity. The card supports both traditional encryption standards and NIST-approved PQC algorithms, enabling a smooth transition for existing infrastructure. Toppan plans to conduct proof-of-concept testing by fiscal 2026 and begin commercial rollout in fiscal 2027, targeting government ID and medical authentication applications.
