Seven major associations representing India's paper, print and packaging sectors joined forces for the inaugural National Paper Day on 1 August 2026 in New Delhi, marking the first time the entire fibre value chain had gathered on a single platform. The event highlighted paper's credentials as a renewable, recyclable and biodegradable material, with industry leaders pointing to advances such as freshwater consumption reductions and sustainably sourced raw materials. IPMA president Pawan Agarwal underscored the sector's socio-economic impact, noting it provides direct employment to over 500,000 people while supporting more than two million families indirectly.
